Computer Labs
The labs in Upper C and the TJ Room in the Library are now equipped with
thin clients instead of full blown computers. These clients will login to a
“Virtual Desktop”. You will login using the instrutions posted in the
Thomas Jefferson Room and the
Upper C Lab.
There are no DVD-RWs on these clients, however, you can use the USB ports to
access a flash drive, external hard drive, etc. The devices will be mounted
automatically after inserting into the port. This will be the only way to
save data off the virtual desktop.
When you finish your lab session, please be sure to clear any cookies or
logins you may have made by clicking Options, then Disconnect and Log Off.
Installed Software:
The following software is installed on each virtual machine: Microsoft
Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat Professional 9, AutoCAD 2008.
If you have a software package that you request be loaded on these machines,
or you're experiencing issues with the machines, please contact Computer
Services at ext. 37363 or cs@utsi.edu
Other Software available on Analysis server:
Matlab and Mathematica will be accessed on the
Analysis Software Server at UTK
using your NETID
username and password. (Students only - faculty and staff must purchase a
one time license to access the server.) There are
shortcuts on the desktop for Matlab and Mathematica that redirect to
Analysis Software Server site. For more info on using the Analysis server,
see the
instructions.
